I'm an experienced teacher with a strong success record in creating positive learning environments where even struggling readers and writers can achieve growth.At present, I teach English at the high school level in New Canaan, CT. Here, my work has involved helping students who are transitioning into high school, and also guiding students as they begin the process of applying to college. In my previous long-term substitute teaching positions, I worked with students who had learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and difficulties with reading and writing.I became interested in tutoring when I was in high school. It was while mentoring students as part of the Nutmeg Big Brother Big Sister program that I became inspired to enter the field of education. I earned my bachelor's degree in English in 2011 from the University of Connecticut. During my undergraduate years at UCONN, I helped high school students as they prepared for the CAPT exams, and I continued volunteering in the Big Brother Big Sister program. I've recently graduated from Central Connecticut State University where I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I enjoyed working with students ranging from sixth through twelfth grade while I worked towards my graduate degree.I have an innovative style that is well-adapted to helping learners with diverse backgrounds and skill levels. I keep current with new technologies and strive to find methods that will help students to reach their highest potential.
